Vincent Meertens is a graphic designer and visual storyteller. He immerses himself into the content, researches and organizes before he starts to visualize. His approach is conceptual, the form follows the idea. As a graphic designer he feels responsible to give shape to the data and images we have to adsorb daily. Sometimes literally with diagrams and infographics, like his TimeMaps which maps out the Netherlands as an interactive map based on travel time rather than distance. Or his programmed illustrations for math books, generated by the formulas in those books. He also makes critical visual essays and reports about topics which fascinate, astonish and surprise him. An example is his personal version of the iconic Golden Record Project from the NASA which tries to capture and summarize humanity trough a series of images and sounds. After his studies at the Design Academy Eindhoven Vincent has worked at the renowned design studio Lava in Amsterdam. Currently he lives and works in New York City. All rights reserved 2013 ©
